ONLINE BANKING ALERT!!!!!

DONT FALL FOR THESE SCAMS

Be aware of the principal methods used by criminals and fraudsters to get you to reveal confidential access information such as your password.

1. Phishing emails are emails that purports to come from the bank asking for access information or requiring you to re enter and confirm your account details. Banks will not email you for your acount information. Many phishing emails use the Bank's logo or other notable offical looking marks.

2. Emails asking you to be a sales agent with the promise to payment to your bank account.

3.Emails that purports to come from a bank that request you to click to a link to go to the official website but instead sends you to another "ghost" site

Follow the simple RULES to protect yourself from Scammers

1. Do not give your PIN number or internet banking passowrd to anyone especially in response to an email request. Real Banks do not sen you an email requesting your password.

2. As soon as you receive spam and scam email delete them.

3.Do not add your bank's URL (website address) to a Favourites list. If you are logging for an internet banking session, always type in the Bank's URL (website addresss)

4. For internet Bnaking , never use public computers like those in interent cafes,hotels and libraries.

5.Maintain and frequently update the anti-virus and firewall software

6. Change password for internet banking regularly. Never use the same passowrd for banking as the same password for such things as video shop membership, etc.

7.Thoroughly read through your banking statements when you receive them. Look for any suspicious transcations. If you notice any transcations that you had not spent, ring your bank's query hotline and advise them immediately.

8. Never click on a link or attachment that purportedly sends you to the Bank's website.

9. At the end of the internet banking session, always close the interent browser and log off if that is all that you need to do.
